Rachel Baez
Hello! It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the newest member of the esteemed team of therapists at Bloom, specializing in adolescent and young adult counseling. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to facilitating personal growth and fostering the emotional well-being of clients in all stages of life. Using a combination of solution-focused, client-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapeutic modalities, I have consistently guided individuals toward realizing their authentic selves and nurturing healthier, more fulfilling lives. As a social work intern, I bring a fresh understanding of how our environment and interpersonal dynamics can impact mental health, equipping me to provide tailored interventions to address these challenges effectively. With a significant portion of my experience rooted in community mental health, I have worked extensively with diverse clientele coping with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I am eager to leverage this expertise in our sessions and collaborate with you on your journey towards positive transformation.

Beyond the Therapy Room
Favorite self-care activity?
Sometimes, when the world gets too loud, and the responsibilities too overwhelming, I normally love to put on one of my favorite Lofi stations and get lost in a book. Unfortunately, as a grad student, all I do is read textbooks, so I have not been able to kick back and enjoy a good book for quite some time. I have recently taken to enjoying kayaking in the springs! I often go with a small group of friends, and we enjoy the water, the scenery, and even sometimes the presence of the surrounding wildlife - when we went last month, we saw a baby and mama manatee and some raccoons!
Favorite book as a teen?
I had two book series that were the center of my universe as a pre-teen and teenager - The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot and The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer (I know it's cringe, but I promise the books were better than the movies!) Both series had fantasy elements, but the Mediator books were more mystery/thriller/suspense than Twilight. I remember pulling my very first all-nighter to read the final book in the Twilight series and I was very proud of myself for finishing a book that large in under 24 hours!
Favorite stress-busting technique as a teen?
As a teen, I was very active in after-school extracurricular activities - specifically the drama club, football, and softball, and these activities were where my coping skills were born. Whenever school would become too stressful or I was dealing with the drama that comes with being a teenager, I would love to listen to music and either sing along at the top of my lungs or blast the loudest music I could, and I would hit the weights in the gym for conditioning. On the harder days, my go-to was watching one of my many comfort shows and snuggling up in my softest and coziest hoodie and blanket.
