Alexis Younes
It takes a lot of courage to admit that you need help, and even more so to seek it out. I know how scary it is to open up to a complete stranger or just to admit to ourselves that what we’re going through is bigger than us. I enjoy creating a brave space for my clients where we can explore the reasons you decided to change your life, while practicing grace and empowering you through this process. Cognitive behavioral concepts along with solution focused, narrative therapy, and creative arts are just a few methods you’ll see in working with me. Each person who walks in comes with their own unique story, which deserves their own unique approach. I’ve worked in private practice the past two years with clients of all ages but have found immense joy in working with teens and young adults specifically. I have experience aiding with anxiety, depression, life changes, trauma, social skills, interpersonal relationships, suicidal ideation, self harm, emotional regulation, and the list goes on!

Favorite self-care activity?
Back in high school, my ultimate self care activity was driving myself to the beach in the evening and sitting by myself. Looking back, it was definitely a mindfulness practice of being present with my thoughts (scary, I know) and taking in all the senses of the sand on my feet, the smell of the salty air, and watching the waves roll in and out. One of my longest lasting self care practices is driving with the windows down, playing music and enjoying the ride.
Favorite book as a teen?
I loved book series as they continued to keep my interest. Series such as The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, and Twilight (okay, don’t judge me) was what I used to binge read back before Netflix binging was a thing. The continuation and investment you make with the main characters of each story allowed me to jump into another person’s reality and what their experience must have been like.
Favorite stress-busting technique as a teen?
Whenever I needed to de-stress, walking the beach alone or with a friend always did the trick. I’m also a huge Netflix binge watcher, so any movies or shows that would make me laugh – The Office – or scary/psychological thriller movies (this would be before the comedy, cause let’s be honest, I was not going to bed if the last thing on my mind was a scary movie).
